Have you ever personally attended the ANZAC Day dawn service? Consider taking some time off to ponder the effects of war and pay respect to the ultimate sacrifice.

Australia celebrates Anzac Day, a national holiday, on April 25 each year. With RSL Surfers Paradise Sub Branch ANZAC Day events, you may commemorate the anniversary of the first significant military battle conducted by Australian and New Zealand forces in World War I.

The Parade

The ANZAC Day Parade, or ANZAC Day March, is the day’s first event. It serves as the main point of ANZAC Day celebrations and offers a chance to pay tribute to and show support for both past and present service members.

Cadets, other community residents, and present and former Defense personnel participate in the ANZAC Day march. Around 4:45 am, they will assemble at 9 Beach Road in Surfers Paradise in front of the subway. At 5 am, the Dawn Parade begins on Beach Road.

Dawn Service

The ANZAC Memorial is on The Esplanade across from Trickett Street, where the march will end. The Dawn Service gets going at 5:30 am. It is a melancholy ceremony replete with custom and protocol. It will include wreath-laying, playing the Last Post, and observing a minute of silence.

The Gunfire Breakfast, held at the Diggers and Sports Club, formerly Surfers Paradise RSL, after the Dawn Service concludes at 7 am, is open for anyone with an active RSL QLD membership card; otherwise, there is a gold coin donation.

Main Ceremony

If you can’t attend the Dawn Service, the RSL Surfers Paradise Sub Branch hosts a ceremony in the afternoon. For the main ANZAC Day ceremony, arrive in Cavill Park before noon. At the Diggers and Sports Club, there are refreshments after the ceremony.

The traditional Australian game Two Up then begins at 2:00 pm. Australian soldiers created two-up during World War I, and it is now customary to play it at pubs and RSL clubs nationwide during Anzac Day.

Thousands of people attend the annual Anzac Day ceremony. Book your Gold Coast apartment as soon as possible to ensure you have time to attend the ANZAC Day dawn service. Take advantage of the opportunity to discover the region’s beauty with your loved ones.
